2014 Riesling Block 1

2014 Riesling Block 1

DOWNLOAD TASTING NOTE

Spice and mineral notes abound on the nose supported by florals, citrus and stonefruit. The palate is immediately lifted by the residual sugar (68 g/L), which is more a rush of sweet fruit than simply sweet. The flavours are too diverse to separate and the finish seems dreamingly never ending. Deep roots from 22 year old vines planted in heavy soils, is providing a real sense of place. A Riesling that combines sheer hedonism and serious contemplation.

The Wine Front, Mike Bennie, February 2015

Holds 68 grams residual sugar like a perfectly gloved, diving catch to a wicket keeper.

Electric in acidity, sweetness honed to needle-thrust and driving across the palate, but never overwhelming. Purity of green apple fruit, lemongrass, ginger. Frisky and dancing across the palate. Pure energy, pure drinkability. Fantastic. Drink: 2015-2030

eRobertParker.com, Lisa Perrotti-Brown, 2014

The 2014 Block 1 Riesling has a slightly reticent nose at this youthful stage of lemongrass, lime leaves and green apples with a touch of wild thyme. Medium-sweet and light bodied with a racy acid backbone, it has a very long citrus laced finish. 91+ Points.
