2012 Pinot Noir Block 3

Every characteristic of this wine is pure Block 3; the crushed herbs are there, dancing with eastern spices and leather; the haunting raspberry purity of the front palate; the way the wine swells in the mouth; then the chocolate finish kicks in and simply refuses to leave. Precision reigns supreme throughout, allowing each phase to be explored and enjoyed.

Wine Spectator, MaryAnn Worobiec, June 2014

Features fresh earth, forest floor and moss accents to the taut core of cherry and currant flavors, with a red licorice note on the finish, accented by a touch of green tea. Firm finish. Drink now through 2027. 628 cases made. 91 Points.

New Zealand’s Pellucid Wines: More Light Than Heat , Stephen Tanzer, May 2016

Walter also opened a bottle of the 2012 Block 3, which offered sexy scents of red fruits and truffleyunderbrush and lovely sweetness to its lush flavors of strawberry and smoke. This wine from thick-skinned grapes and a cool summer has plenty of fat but is a bit burlier and seems more heavily extracted than the 2013 version. I rated it 93 points and recommend that it be consumed within the next four or five years. 93 Points.
