2001 Pinot Noir Block 5

Tasting Date: 11 November 2008

Compote of ripe fresh fruit and some spice initially explode out of the glass. However it is the “background noise” that is proving hard to define … a burgundian complexity of fruit, spice, and minerals will have to suffice. A wonderful bouquet. This is a rich wine without being cloying. Great fruit weight encased with round ripe tannins that are still tightly bound. Balance, elegant and seamless. Truly impressive.
