Wine Spectator, MaryAnn Worobiec, June 2014
Rich and complex, opening with a core of ripe, juicy black cherry and blackberry flavors, revealing layers of lavender, clove, cinnamon, black tea, white pepper and truffle details. Graceful and elegant, delivering a plush texture and a finish that doesn’t quit. Drink now through 2028. 891 cases made, 93 Points.
New Zealand’s Pellucid Wines: More Light Than Heat , Stephen Tanzer, May 2016
Medium dark red. Sexy perfume of dark raspberry, smoke and truffle conveys a hint of development. Concentrated, dense and sweet but still quite tightly wound, with a savory quality contributing to an impression of site specificity. Finishes firm and long. The yields here were slightly lower in 2012 than in 2013, noted Blair Walter, who compared New Zealand’s 2013 Pinots to 2009 Burgundies and its 2012s to the Burgundy 2010s. 92 Points.
